For the record, the guide makes no mention of some secret final boss, though they also only glossed over NG+. I wonder if people think a certain boss in a well-hidden dungeon is this secret final boss?

Unfortunately, I think that may be the case. Quite disappointing.

That's stupid, a guide should tell you all of the content available. The fact that it only says some of it is stupid.

Might be a true ending though, I heard beating every boss in the game allow you to fight a buffed up version of the final boss.

Lets hope.

The rumor was started because one of the guys who worked on the guide said that there are 2 endings. But I belive the guide has info regarding this and we will find out very soon.

If the guide doesn't mention anything about a true ending, chances are much higher that the rumor going around about the "true ending" and various other new game plus stuff is bogus. I will be very disappoint if it is bogus, the ending is terribad. What were they thinking?

The boss in the "hidden area" mentioned in the guide is the Darklurker, and hidden area mentioned is the Old Chasm of the Abyss.

The Darklurker is an optional boss that can be accessed by joing the Abyssal Covenant, and completing all its Chasm of the Abyss challenge rooms. He can also be fought during NG, you don't need to go into NG+ to reach him.

There is no true ending, it's just a rumor made by some users that were dissatisfied by Dark Souls 2's poor ending so they took a quote out of context (as much as I wanted it to be true).
