I used motionjoy and it works great! Much better than a terribly awkward keyboard.
I have the same experience, works like a champ. I just wish the macros and turbo features worked so I could use the Complete Works control scheme. Some people bash it, but some times its fun to steam roll the game with an auto fire button and a slide macro.
The PS3 controller isn't just picked up by your PC like a 360 controller can be, so you need Motioninjoy's DS3tools to use it. The PS3 controller is also one of the controllers that causes the no input bug in SFxMM, so you can't use it like a normal controller. You have to start the game THEN plug it in, then use DS3tools the same way you would use xpadder or joytokey.
