(Reposting from the B2 board for extra relevance.)
We've all seen the new trailer by now, and things are looking to be very... different for Gen VI.
But is different bad? Personally, I'm uncertain, and it's probably not wise to make any definite decisions either way right now, but what are people's first gut reactions? The change is pretty extreme, with full 3D player characters and 'mons, new perspectives and ways of getting around (vine swinging!) and controversial new designs and naming schemes.
So what do you think? Is change bad? Or is it irrelevant? --- Every now and then a mad man's bound to come along! Doesn't stop the story; story's pretty strong. Doesn't change the song...

D. Change can be good. Change without meaning? Yes. --- Jimbo.

3D graphics do not imply drastically changed gameplay - especially not in a turn-based RPG. --- Creator of Jay's Journey (see quote!) "It's not ten years old! Therefore, it sucks!" - Nostalgia whores everywhere

I like what I'm seeing so far. As a long time Pokemon fan, I think that there needs to be some changes between each Gen. I love Pokemon and all, but it often feels like I've been playing the same game since Gen 1. Of course, there have been a lot of changes between Gen 1 and 5, but still. I don't ever want to think of Pokemon as having gotten stale, so change is needed. --- "Let's just say they're...not okay" - Madara Uchiha

We still don't have diagonal movement. If anything, Pokemon needs to change faster. --- I claim to be the official Porygon2 of the Pokemon Black 2 board. Scientist MileRun: WaRy associate
