Lots of people have been talking about how this generation might be different from previous ones because the release is on the 3DS. Without a 3DS AR or flash carts, the ability of the game's content to be mined on release and competitive players to exploit cheating devices to construct their teams MAY be nerfed.
To clarify, ITT we are not asking for ROMs, how to use flash carts, etc.
My understanding is that 3DS ROMs have been ripped, but have decent encryption which has not yet been broken. No emulation exists for the 3DS, and no kind of AR has been developed (one exists for DS games that runs on the 3DS, but none actually work with 3DS games themselves).
I would like to know, specifically from those who have been involved with DS emulation, how are things likely to look when the games are released? Is it realistic to have 3DS games encrypted? To have flash carts running them? To have a 3DS AR? Links which discuss these things and their recent progress would be helpful, given that linking to them doesn't violate any board rules.
