It seems to be a very Nordic sounding name. They can be difficult for many people to pronounce who aren't good with foreign languages.

I grew up watching things in several languages so it isn't a problem for me.

They butchered nothing. A name is pronounced exactly how the person giving the name decides. If I wanted to, I could spell my name Q246 and pronounce it "Frederick."

Yeah, I've never really been sure on how to pronounce Yggrasil, or at least how to start it. I usually say something like Why/Ee-draw-sill, with a slight "J" sound before the draw, but I'm not sure how the phonetics would work on that.
