Why do people keep making topics about other's ages?

I understand why it happens but why so many? Do people honestly not see all these topics all over the front page or not search for them ever? It almost seems like a requirement to make a Pokemon age discussion the moment you create a new account...

I feel like people are either trying to prove a point that the online fanbase are of a certain age, or they're just insecure and they want to hear about other adults playing the games.
