The problem with hacking the 3DS / Gen 6 games

#1andis1992Posted 1/10/2013 1:42:06 PM
Couldn't nintendo just force a patch on us to make the game unuseable if one is discovered? Like, deny the use of any online services unless the game has been patched/3DS has been updated?

Mario kart 7 comes to mind with this situation.

Then the hackers do their own firmware update like they did with the Wii

i feel like that would be a lot harder with the 3ds.

Good? Online hackers are a plague and they ruin everything with wifi. I see no reason you need to hack anything in Pokemon. There is no confirming unhacked pokes of trades of any kind thanks to them and I for one want a legit Pokemon game.

It would be amazing.

I know many people who were driven away from the series because of the mess hackers made of the game (and they will shamelessly deny it by creating imaginary vacuums like "ingame" which can't exist in a multiplayer setting), they would all be more willing to get back into the games if something like this was done.

You mean like, no connecting to online unless the newest patch is installed?

It's technically possible. And home consoles do it. I have a feeling GF wouldn't do it though unless there was a huge problem/bug.

I highly doubt anyone who uses badly hacked pokemon will get banned or anything like that. It'll just stop you from using them.

I've never heard about anyone actually abandoning the series because they were butthurt about hackers. :P

You don't need to mod a system to hack the save files.

I know two people IRL, and more online, who saw no point in playing the games online when hacking perfect Pokemon was seen as natural, and the games went from adventurous RPGs about discovery and growth to literally battle simulators.
