One thing I've always wondered.

Are there normal animals in the world of pokemon? :u Like cows or whatever? Or do they... eat the pokemon for food? Or is everyone just a vegetarian?

... but then some pokemon could be considered plants, so I'm not sure how what would work. :u

Regular animals show up in the anime (at least, in the early episodes), but the anime is often critisized for not holding true to the games. In game, you never see regular animals, but sometimes in the PokeDex entries, they are mentioned.

And, no, people do eat Pokemon. The fruit that grows on the neck of Tropius, is one such case. Another is the SlowPokeTail.

GameFreak tends to avoid such issues, because they already have enough trouble dealing with the idiotic animal rights groups, like PETA. The last thing they need is a legitimate group like the ASPCA getting on their case.

Well they can make tea using the monkey trio, so that's that. And I guess some nice Tauros meat to go with it.

Actually, a couple of the Sinnoh myths found in the Canalave City library refer to Pokemon being used as food. I'll post a snippet of each example, one from Veilstone's Myth:

With it, he smote Pokémon, which gave
sustenance, with carefree abandon.
Those not taken as food, he
discarded, with no afterthought.

and another from Sinnoh Folk Story 1:

Pick clean the bones of Pokémon
caught in the sea or stream.
Thank them for the meals they
provide, and pick their bones clean.

The Sinnoh myths are among the most fascinating bits of Pokemon lore that GameFreak has ever provided us with. If you've never read them, I suggest checking out the following link for the complete works:

Since aging doesn't seem to be an issue, just assume that food isn't one either!

Ash is the only character in the Pokemon universe that doesn't age. That's because he drains the life force of young girls, giving the bitter and aged remains to Brock.

Characters age in the manga and in the games.
