Huh. I am no where near a Pokemon aficionado. Has that happened before? Where an evolution adds another element to said Pokemon in terms of starters? Or this may all be linked in some way to the whole chromosome thing. Maybe the baddies in this gen want to make the pure elements impure?
Assuming by "element", you actually meant "type":
Charmeleon to Charizard added Flying. Torchic to Combusken added Fighting. Mudkip to Marshtomp added Ground. Turtwig to Grotle added Ground. Prinplup to Empoleon added Steel. Chimchar to Monferno added Fighting. Tepig to Pignite added Fighting.
Turtwig to Grotle was still Grass. It was when it became Torterra that it got Ground as well.
Meh. It was one of those two. Pokemon reach their final forms so quickly, I barely remember the middle stage. --- If you're a gamer, it is your responsibility to share this with everyone you know: http://youtu.be/jHmDjNCZR3k

I know right? It's easier for me to remember their first and final stages, but when it comes to their middle ones, I usually have trouble remembering them... --- "Many of you feel bad for this lamp...That is because you're crazy.
