First of all, I appreciate that you took the time to read the post, that's a rarity.

Am I going to compare it to something in real life? Yes I am, because clearly my point was not understood initially. Real life analogues are typically easier to relate to. It's not at all 'completely different', there are many similarities that can be drawn (primarily in the attitude), and some of the differences that exist were highlighted in the last paragraph. Admittedly the severity is miles apart, but that's not the part of the example I was drawing attention to. Then again, maybe I should, because if you are the type of person would would just walk by a the situation I described, then it explains your negativity here too.

Am I taking Gamefaqs too seriously? To be honest, I can't be the judge of that. But I make an effort to treat people online with same respect and dialogue as I would face-to-face. That's hardly exclusive to Gamefaqs, but it's a policy I adopted many years ago, and after having met a small collection of individuals who do the same, I can say that it's largely appreciated. To me you aren't some stranger with a username "GalladetheGreat", you are a real person behind a monitor who shares some common interests (given your presence on this board).

Interesting perspective. First of all, judgements made on personality are generally considered quite valid, but I assume you are referring to judging you based on your comments alone.

Of course I am judging you, though it's based on multiple comments in this topic, and the few details shown in your profile here, all of which relay your online persona. If you are suggesting that this "virtual you" is essentially the same and the "real you", then I am curious as to what makes you so seemingly negative? Or is this an isolated incident? Most people (though admittedly not all) are not typically so critical in person, or perhaps I'm just an optimist.

However, if we assume that this is not the 'real you', then the question goes back to being 'why are you not treating others online with the same respect you would in person?'.

As humans, we constantly make judgments about other people, it's inevitable and anything said to the contrary is denial - the challenge is to allow ourselves to change those judgments based on further encounters. I provided you with an out earlier with the "yet", you chose not to take it. I do however wish to thank you for your continued responses, it's interesting to have these debates with someone who is willing.

Care to elaborate on my apparent lack of open-mindedness? To the contrary, I am waiting for you to prove my initial judgments wrong. Do you honestly think I have chosen to treat you or judge you in a negative manner? To be quite frank, I am very pleased with the responses you have given, they have already shifted my initial view of you and I look forward to future dialogue, here or elsewhere. That said, why are you so resistant to discussion on human behaviour as it relates to virtual vs. real spaces? It's fascinating and very applicable.
