People who still don't understand Green

#1pokemega32Posted 1/14/2013 8:19:19 PM
I've seen a number of people say that they "have every single Pokemon version, including Green." And it's clear that they imported Green from Japan.

They always include Green in "every single Pokemon version," but never the original Japanese Red and/or Blue.

These games are just as different from the International Gen I games as Green is.

It would be more impressive if they had Japanese Blue.

No, the international Pokemon Red and the Japanese Pokemon Red are pretty much the same. Same sprites and same exclusives. The only real difference is the standard localization changes, such as trainer names, name length, et cetera.

But, you're right about Blue. The Japanese Blue was the first official "third version" game. It's exclusives were a combination of the other two games, while the others were left out.

International Blue is pretty much the same as Japanese Green. The only difference is that it uses the same sprites as Pokemon Red, whereas Green had it's own sprites.

Well technically, Japanese Red is basically a hybrid of Green and international Red, there's not really a need to own it separately. I agree about Japanese Blue being different though.

But if you want to get picky about it, then wouldn't some of the other game variants count too? Japanese Gold/Silver had totally different menu layouts, and the Phanpy/Teddiursa availability was switched. PAL Platinum had no Game Corner. And I'm sure there's a few other differences here and there.

Actually from my understanding, Red and Green had the same sprites it was Blue that "updated" them and it was those graphics that they used when they brought the games outside of Japan.

Nope.

Japanese Red and Green were the originals.

Japanese Blue fixed glitches, changed the script, added new sprites (both in-battle and overworld), completely revamped Cerulean Cave, and changed Pokemon locations.

International Red and Blue use the Pokemon locations from JP Red and Green respectively, and everything else from JP Blue.

Why did we get Blue internationally?

Why not Green?

Namewise, who knows? Maybe Red & Green was too Christmasy.

Contentwise, we didn't get any of the same games as Japan.

JP Red + JP Blue = International Red
JP Green + JP Blue = International Blue
