Why is there a "Dragon" Type...

#21Legendary_MusasPosted 1/17/2013 9:40:34 AM
Light type wouldn't make sense because all of its aspects are already covered.

Light source - Fire, Electric
Holy - Fighting

Fitting a Light type in would just conflict with the types already established. A light bulb Pokemon should be Electric not 'Light', it's the same thing. A devout holy warrior should be Fighting not 'Light' etc.

People are complaining Light Type would be too unrealistic & made-up.
While we have Dragon Type... dragons... with special dragon abilities & attributes.

The only thing that type is good for is tell us that pokemon is a "dragon" (much like how vulpix is a "fox" and mankey a "monkey") and make those pokemon instantly super strong compared to other types.

Why would anybody complain about light type being unrealistic? Thats just dumb... Plenty of games have a "light" attribute.

I know,. but there are a lot of people that still do.
I either want Dragon Type nerfed.
Or new types to re-balance everything.

Dragon Pokemon are mostly (always?) the strongest pokemon in the game.
It's a bit unfair,. and it's kind of getting annoying. The pattern of get to the last parts of the region and get strong dragon pokemon hurr durr, to replace everyone in your team.

Unless it's electromagnetic radiation type, which is often referred to simply as "light" (With the stuff you see being referred to as "visible light".).

I see. That makes sense. From a design stand point you are right, it would be hard to classify a new pokemon as light when they could easily be classified with existing types (i.e. Electric). However if they wanted to fit this type in, all they would have to do is come up with a "criteria" in which something can be discerned as light as opposed to an existing type. Much like how dragons could be combinations of types (flying/fire), however they meet some criteria of being a dragon thus are dragon-type.

What should this criteria be? I don't have an answer right now but I can think about it o.o\

What they SHOULD do and I have no Idea why they didn't was make Steel SE against Dragon. Knights do in myths and legends kill Dragons.

Aerodactyl is a Wyvern but it's Rock/Flying because all fossil Pokemon are part Rock and Aerodactyl is definitely a flying type.

What? No, obviously Aerodactyl is a pterodactyl, hence the dactyl at the end of his name.

It's based on both but it's definitely based more on the Wyvern than a Pteranadon, look at it's head.
