New concept: converging evo

#1shadyguyrockmanPosted 1/17/2013 9:28:57 AM
We've seen a few split evolutions. What about the opposite? Thinks like Luvdisc and Alomomola, Tauros and Bouffalant, etc could evolve into the same Pokémon, instead of having a common baby. Eggs could be handled by having a 50/50 chance, or something.

Why would they converge?

Feels like a waste.

With a common prevo, we'd be able to get access to two pokemon from one.
With a converging Evo, we'd have 2 pokemon, which only give access to a single evolution.

It fits in with real life mechanics, but simply becomes wasted potential in pokemon.

Idk, people are knocking the idea but I kinda like it. Assuming there's only like 1 or 2 of these converging evos in all. If thi happened too much it would be dumb

Slowbro exists already.... though he doesn't evolve at all, just the shelder does.... at least they both evolve with slow king

Problem is, your losing a Pokemon.... unless you are just saying they become the same thing without fusion... in that case...

How would they differ? Say nidorina and nidorino became nidojack by using a sun stone, would they be the same or would they have different coloration, different forms or just the same?

Same with jynx and mime, miltank tauros and buffy,.... convergent sounds cool, but not as likely as a shared prevo

have illumise and volbeat hold an evolution item.
double battle a number of times to increase partner points or somthing.

they evolve into kabuterimon

I didn't mean fusion. I meant that either of them would evolve into the same. And eggs would be a coin flip. As in, catch Tauros, evolve, and breed the evolved form for a 50% chance at a Bouffalant egg. Or the other way around.

Indeed. In the case of animals such as dolphins (mammals) and sharks (fish), convergent evolution made them develop similar features out of a completely different genetical background, due to them having the same selective pressure from the environment.

Yes

I don't know about examples of different species becoming the same (although wikipedia says "it can create species which are only distinguishable by analysing their genetics"), but you definitely get animals that have evolved simiarly despite having different influences.
