I think you shouldn't be able to use items during trainer battles period.
Also, no switching Pokemon between knockouts, like REAL battles.

I don't use Items during battle or when fighting bosses. I agree with DarkKirby --- Vroom Vroooom! FULL AUTO!!! Kunimitsu, the goddess of 1535 posts........and counting

I was underleveled at 40/50ish in Soul Silver. I fought Red.
The Switching between Gyarados, and Typhlosion via Max Revives is the only way I beat his Charizard. THE ONLY WAY. --- Beating FF Superbosses. 1-4, 6, After Years, and 13-2 completed. FF5: Ancient Library FF7: Wall Market

They should institute new rules for "League Battles" (Gym challenges/Elite 4)
If they're going to lock gym leaders into only having 3/4 pokemon
Then you should ONLY be able to use that many pokemon as well (like the anime)
No items would make things more challenging, for sure

I agree, there shouldn't be any items allowed during elite four battles, period. It's just stupid. Also, I think they should set a limit to how many items you can use in one battle (non-E4). Four or five sounds good. --- Mario vs. Donkey Kong is a hideously underrated game.
