How does Vulpix seem French to you? I'm not sure what you're getting at....nothing screams "French royalty" to me when I see that worthless peasent.

The King/Queen would use Serperior obviously. They would have Golurks as guards as referenced by the statue in the trailer. Mr. Mime would probably be the Jester for obvious reasons. They would have used Chespins final evo for their knights.

Vulpix wouldn't even be used to heat the food because it's so worthless.

That'd ruin the theme of Gen 5's starters. They were each designed with a national style.

Serperior: European, specifically, after French royalty
Emboar: Chinese
Samurott: Japanese

We don't know of Chespin's evolutions, so they very well could qualify to be a part of a 'theme'. He could evolve into a Pokemon with Native American regalia for all we know.
