New Drogonair evo?

#1radred2004Posted 1/21/2013 10:51:02 AM
In the trailer video, Dratini or Dragonair was shown. Does anyone think this may mean that Dragonair gets a new evo? Maybe a pure dragon type?

It just seems weird to see him back when he's been out of the main game from generations 3 through 5 (and only available in remakes or post-game).

I really think we may get another Dragonair evo, I hope this is the case.

Seems legit. I bet every other old Pokemon shown in the trailer will get a new evolution too.

They also showed Golurk, Pikachu, Magikarp, Kirlia, Mienfoo, Psyduck, Munchlax, Patrat, Pansear, and Litwick. Appearing in the trailer (which probably doesn't even show gameplay from the final version) doesn't mean anything.

Look at the right of the screen at around 1:05 to 1:07. Quick shot of Dratini.

Hmm, not necessarily. There have been several times they brought back an old Pokemon but not have any new evolutions for it. Ponyta/Rapidash in Gen IV, for example.

Besides, the only time we have a comparison is Gen IV, as Gen II had almost all the Pokemon out at the time, Gen III only had two baby forms for previous Pokemon, and Gen V didn't have any new evos for old Pokemon at all.

It means we will have a pretty big national pokedex with pokemon from all regions

True, but the thing is that usually the generations have had a main dragon pseudo-legend per generation (during the main game) aside from gen 2, and two in generation 5. Since Dratini is in the vid, I'm assuming he's part of the main game, not the post-game, which would make him a regionally based dragon:

gen 1- Dragonite
gen 2- Dragonite
gen 3- Salamence
gen 4- Garchomp
gen 5- Hydriegon, Haxorus
gen 6- Dragonite, ????

Furthermore, dragons are usually sparse and generally generation specific which leads me to believe Dratini will have more fame in a new form.

Again, the trailer probably doesn't even show gameplay from the final version. The fight with a Dratini could very well just be postgame content.
