The most hated should be 2. It sickens me how people actually hate new and improved games. --- Official Zapdos of the Pokemon X/Y Message Boards

Gen 2 actually had alot of things going for it. Night and day cycles, adding two new types to the game steel and dark, the stat special switch into special attack and special defense. You know the things that mattered actually happened in Gen 2. Gen 1 was the worst. It had the most glitches, and worse gameplay mechanics. It really should be no contest. But with some people nostalgia wins over everything. /dumb logic --- Recommended games: Guild Wars 2, The Witcher 2, Skyrim, Batman arkham city, Brutal Legend Terrible games: Dark Souls, Demon Souls, Diablo 3, X-Com, War Z
I don't think Gen IV is bad, maybe it's because I played Platinum first.
Yeah, playing things first tend to make you like it more. You've gotta look at the big picture though to not be ignorant and biased. And looking at the big picture Gen IV is much wider, much diverse, and just as enjoyable if not more than the other gens.
Its unarguable that Gen IV mechanics are the best to happen to Pokemon
No, no. I mean Platinum is the first Gen IV game I played. I've been playing since RBY, I wasn't exposed to the suckiness of D/P. I liked HGSS as well. --- I think it's only fair that we throw monopoly money at strippers with fake boobs.

In terms of "I want to play this right now", Gen 1 is clearly the worst, objectively.
In terms of "I played this in the past and here's what I think", Gen 3 is my least favorite.

Gen IV because of D/P. Crap selection of pokemon, limited post game, F***ING MT. CORONET, surf and battle speeds, etc.,etc.
I've played and replayed games from all of the gens, and IV was the one I wanted to replay the least. Just didn't appeal to me as much as the others did.

Well, now that there's finally a real answer, maybe there should be a sticky on "why gen 2 is hated" so that people can stop spamming that question as multiple topics.
This doesn't mean I hate Gen 2. --- Sedix: Baffling Artist

Tied between Gen 2 and Gen IV

Gen II and Gen IV made the most sweeping enhancements to the series and are seen as the worst in the series.
Despite that we've loved every single change they both added and would hate to see them go.
