Froakie is the first starter to make me think, "I want that one!"

With the other starters, I based my choices on what they would eventually look like or how strong they would be. Froakie has had my interest since his first appearance on the Pokemon Direct.

Has anyone felt this way about any of the starters?

Squirtle, Tepig, and Empoleon...

And if Torterra wasn't all asymmetrical I would've totally wanted that one, too.

piplup and snivy. The only starter that I don't like is oshawott (I like his evos though).

I think I was really taken with Sceptile back when I first looked up an online Pokedex for Ruby/Sapphire. I had been out of the Pokemon loop after Gen II and didn't buy Ruby until months after its release; I had already seen all the Pokemon by then. After Charizard and Feraligatr, I guessed that the next Grass starter would be dragon-like, and Sceptile fulfilled my expectations wonderfully.

I don't think I've felt the same about any other starter so far.

Well Cyndaquil was my first starter (probably because of the Fire type sounding awesome) but Fennekin immediately jumped off the page and I knew that I wanted that one.

I was planning on the grass starter, but Fennekin changed my mind.
