Gen II: Totodile
Gen III: Mudkip for Sapphire, Charmander for FireRed
Gen IV: Piplup in D/P, Turtwig in Plat, Totodile in SoulSilver
Gen V: Oshawott in White, Snivy in White 2

Gen 1: pikachu / gen 1 remake: charizard
Gen2: totodile / gen 2 re: cyndaquil
Gen3: treecko, torchic for emerald
Gen 4: chimchar
Gen 5: oshawott
For gen 6, I leaning towards the hedgehog.

First playthroughs ever:
Squirtle
Chikorita
Treecko
Chimchar
Snivy

Once I replayed them I picked Fire starters until gen 5. I just didn't like Tepig and Snivy just looks cool. And my fav in gen 5
