4kids are the devil. Stop white-knighting an inferior version of a stupid show. If you say you enjoyed garbage like the English version of Sonic X and Pokemon then you have extremely bad taste and should go watch South Park.

What the hell does a video showing random 4kids censoring/localization blunders have anything to do with this conversation about voice actor quality. Get your pointless random video out of here. No one is talking about changing Japanese food to sandwiches.

I usually watch subbed anime unless the dub is of amazing quality (which is quite rare). But Misty's Japanese voice isn't anything special. Just like you said, it sounds like a generic female anime voice. It's not memorable.

Misty's English voice IS memorable and does not sound like a 40 year old woman -_-. The VA was like 22 when she started doing the VA work for Misty and Misty's voice has a slightly rough tone which perfectly fits her personality.

I remember when I used to be blindly anti dub, so I can't really blame you thinking this way.

Because 4kids still suck and its sad they have the best voice actors (which are still bad). Funimation changes the original's bgm music too and adds their own crap. The english dub is just terrible and fyi I only watch the English dub, theres nowhere to watch the japanese besides the recent series. Just saw that one banned dratini episode and holy cow the voices are better.

And no the roughness hurts it, its the reason I hated Misty back in the 90s and her japanese voice makes her so much more likeable a decade after

Interesting topic, after I had talked with a friend earlier about Ash and Misty's couple potential.

Can't say I really have a preference as to which voice actor is better for her personally though.

Wow, this is the first time I ever felt bad for Ash, he really tries, especially poor Pikachu. I remember not watching the episode and thinking Tobias was a badass simply because he uses legendaries and not as big of a noob as everybody in the anime was but I got lots of feels from watching Pikachu try

Misty because she and Ash actually had chemistry. Misty's banter with Ash successfully kept me blinded me to how much garbage that show was for years.
