Why do people hate evs?

#1LightningAce11Posted 2/1/2013 12:19:14 AM
I ev trained a pokemon for the first time, a deino. I gave it the vitamins for special attack and speed, gave it a macho brace and killed basculin and litwick. It took almost 15 minutes. Why do people think it is so hard to do? I found it pretty easy.

You're still doing it wrong. Macho brace is a no no.

Why? It only cuts speed when it's equipped right?

1. Get pokerus
2. Use 10 vitamins on each stat you want to ev up.
3. Equip power item like power bracer, power anklet, power lens, etc.
4. Find pokemon that give off the evs you want to train up.
5. Kill s***

Remember pokemon you kill with 1 ev in any stat while you have pokerus and a power item goes up to 10. This means you need to kill 15 of those pokemon with the power item and 1 without the power item. That makes 252 ivs right there.

It cuts speed and gives 2 evs points in every single stat. Which is bad because you are wasting effort points in other stats instead of speed and sp. Atk. You slaughted a bunch of litwick and basculin to get mediocre gains on all of your stats.

Next time use a power lens or power anklet for litwick and basculin respectively.

People probably just lump EVs with all terms competitive battlers use. Taking IVs and natures into account, I think EVs would be the least of their concern, because that is at least more under their control. I, of course, say this as someone that doesn't play Pokemon competitively.
