Would Gengar be better off without his secondary Poison typing?

If he said he's not a competitive player at all, and it's just for in-game, then why not put Sludge Bomb on Gengar? Even if it's a terrible offensive type, it's still your best option against everything that Ghost can't hit well. Plus, 90 BP plus STAB and no drawbacks is fantastic in-game.
