The knowledge of stats being controllable always makes me want to be the type of person who can make perfect teams, knowing I don't have the patience or time for that, but it'll always be on my mind haha, while the pre-release pictures of all the new Pokemon come out before the game and cause me to try and make my team early.
With generation 6 coming I will not be reading the news on Serebii and will try my best not to worry about natures and stats, at least for in game. What are y'all's thoughts on this? --- Check me out on YouTube rambling about call of duty and other random stuff. YouTube/GamerTag: DaBlueBonnet

I got to serebii's regularly. I don't give a flip about stats. As someone famous once said " Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites." --- Sic vis pacem, para bellum

Well, I kinda figure that my current team is good enough to be competitive in 6th Gen as well, so I'm not worrying too much about the whole stressing over stats thing.
In a perfect world, I will not spoil myself with intense pokeknowledge and I'll genuinely be surprised by the poke's I run into. I'll catch all that I see ofcourse, and choose to train the ones I THINK are the most viable for my team.

it's all up to your decisions. i don't care about iv's, ev's and smogon and i enjoy the ingame experience: story, exploring, catching, etc. and now that i would like to play WIFI more often, i don't pay attention to those things, but at the same time try to make a balanced team with different types and attacks
and same thing for news. i want to see the news because i want to know more things before the release. and since this is a worldwide release, probably we won't have the whole information about new pokemons, places and story before we play it. if you want to not see it, then it's ok.

Smogon ruined your poke experience?

Nowadays I at least try to do some EV training. Ive moderate EV/IV training (with my favorite Pokes-disregarding tiers and all that mumbo jumbo) and have had relative success competition wise. The thing that turned me off from online battles is the same worn out teams (and strategies) over and over again-Garchomps, Terrakions, Dragonites, Metagrosses, etc etc etc. That and the rage quitting. So for the most part I stopped caring now.
