those goggles are backwards nostalgia goggles. they make everything old you look at worse. rather than accepting the excellence that was gen 2's art style compared to now, you want what is contemporary, which you seem to percieve as objectively better rather than just different.

It's less about the art style and more about the terrible level scaling and how underwhelming Kanto was.
