What if some pokemon are actually Ditto in disguise and don't change back?

I could see this being the reason for many multiple Legendaries.

What if there really is just one Mew, and the one the Player captures is merely a Ditto?

Or that the original Mew died giving birth to Mewtwo?

Where is it ever stated that there's only one of each legendary? Why can't there exist more than one?

Maybe the entire game is a dream, and the main character has been in a coma for months.

Maybe the entire game is a marketing ploy invented by rich Japanese business men to get money from children

Because idk it seems strange for multiple Arceus creating the universe. >_>

It kinda takes the "legendary" thing away if it's said that "one" of these "species" did this awesome thing.

I can't see any of the Sinnoh legends being multiples. (Except a few)

Mewtwo was created from an experiment with Mew. I can't there being more than one.

Legendary just means it's appeared in stories but it's so rare people aren't entirely sure it exists.

Well some are one of a kind, like I doubt they made more than one Mewtwo. And Arceus is probably one of a kind given what he is. But there's no reason why Lugia should be the only one in the world. Even Mew doesn't have any real reason to be unique.

I doubt that the Legendaries are actual gods. They're probably more like rare, powerful Pokemon that are associated with the gods, much like many animals in real life.

And also, notice that every copy of the game has a legendary in it, meaning that there are millions of Mewtwo, and other supposedly one of a kind Pokemon.

I don't think it takes anything away from the "legendary" status if there's more than one. To me, the thing that makes a Pokemon legendary is all the myths associated with it. Multiple legendary Pokemon wouldn't be a problem, as far as I'm concerned.

Some definitely do seem like they're one of a kind, though. Like, I can see your point with Mewtwo, but then again, we don't exactly know how many were made. Same with Arceus; it seems like there should only be one, but we don't necessarily know that.

The games have also had a few different instances where there are multiple copies of legendaries, though I suppose it could be argued that it's just the same Pokemon but in a different place. I would tend to disagree.
