Yeah same. I didn't know type matchups very well until last year though, there were a lot of things I didn't know, like Ghost being immune to Fighting, Grass being weak to Poison, Ice and Rock being weak to Steel and a couple of others.

Yeah, completely memorized. Also it helps to think of dark type not as dark as in lack of light, or evil, but as a foil to fighting type. Aka they are "dirty" fighters. Hard to concentrate on a psybeam after getting punched in the balls or poked in the eyes sort of thing.

My only confusion is sometimes ill just forget that a poke has a second type, and won't realize until after using a move. Like grass/flying or something silly. Then I correct it and forget again 2 weeks down the line haha

Nope. There are a few that I know and several that I forget and some that I frequently get mixed up. And the longer it's been since I played the more likely I'll have them mixed up and forgotten.
