Sylveon's name explained here. Light type proof?

I like this.

Normal type is dumb. Once Eevee covers all 16 (maybe 17) types, Eevee shall cover, and always be the normal slot.

It's gonna be Normal. I know, I'm from the future.

Is Caitlin the champion in these games?

Dunno, that's beyond my time.

Nintendo/Gamefreak has been doing this Pokemon thing for awhile. They know how to make their games fun and they know how to get people excited for releases. Putting this much hype around a new eeveelution that ends up being normal is simply boring.

This is a good point, but none of those can be backed by Sylveon's design.

Neither can yours. That's my point. It's totally inconclusive. That said, you didn't read very far into "Sylvan". While it does describe woodlands and forested areas, you miss the part where it is also often used as a descriptor for mythological woodland Fey creatures, such as Nymphs (the origin of the Japanese Ninfia) and Faeries (the origin of the German Feelinara). So, the "Sylvan" root actually fits considerably more likely than any of the other if only because it matches up in general definition with Sylveon's name in other languages, unlike the bird, the bunny, or the phenomenon you've described here.

Not if it has other cool stuff about it. It could be Normal but have Multi-Type or Wonder Guard or Color Change or any number of other things that would make it more exciting and totally worth being Normal. We have no idea.

Very true, but if anything I see this as more proof that it is a Light type rather than a Normal type. Mythological creatures/nymphs are quite the opposite of what most would consider normal. I only digress though, with everything you have said I can not agree more that its a lot of speculation still.

I guess possibly, but not necessarily. Plenty of existing fairy-like Pokemon, particularly those in the fairy egg group, are Normal-types. This includes Pokemon like Clefairy.and Togetic, for example.

Well awesome, that is very mature of you. There are way too many topics around here where people are so unwilling to let go of the reasons behind their speculations even when it's demonstrated to them that those reasons are not good ones. I applaud you for setting a good example and actually taking the time to consider evidence contrary to what you initially presented. =)

With this, it's basically more logical to think of Sylveon as a Normal-type than an entirely new type that basically has no other reason to think it'll exist other than "they kept his type secret".

The people who claim Sylveone to be Light-Type are jsut saying Light-Type just cuz its the most used type suggestion when new types are put into question.
Even if Sylveon IS a new type, there is nothing indicating that it would be light-type what so ever.....>.>

The biggest problem with Light type is that pretty much the only existing move that would become that type is Flash.

Take your pick. Seriously, the name is entirely inconclusive, which is in turn all the more reason it's probably just a Normal-type.

This is a good point, but none of those can be backed my Sylveon's design. It wouldn't make any sense to give a pokemon a flying typing that :
A) isnt a bird
B) doesn't have wings or
C) has no features that would give the capabilities of flight

As for the forest related articles, we already have a grass-type eeveelution

Gyarados, it isn't a bird, hasnt got wings or features that would allow capability of flight in the way that it does, yet he's part flying type.
