I know their hearts are closed, but how does this actually happen? Is the Pokemon brainwashed? I need to know.

My personal belief: They are exposed to the anti-matter power of Giratina.

I know this is before Giratina, but it's my personal headcanon.

At least I didn't say Heartless or Tabuu did it.
