Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. So Pokemon Z confirmed?

I was thinking we might get XX and XY...

There needs to be a Mega Man X and a Zero pokemon.

Y can be Gamma from Mega Man 3.

Not really. Many animals do have a Z chromosome. Humans don't, but since Pokémon are based on animals, Z version would make sense with both meanings.

It would make no sense to reference the Z chromosome without the W chromosome.

Let's do non-numbered direct sequels this time, then!

Secondly, Z has nothing to do with X and Y, at least in the context the games are using the letters, so a Z version doesn't make much sense.

You could not be any more wrong...

First of all, Z comes after X and Y in a sequence.

Second off, Z is the third set of coordinates in 3D (and guess what console Gen 6 starts pokemon on).

Finally, the first Gen 6 games center around Norse Mythology. I forgot how this links up to 3D coordinates, but google it. Makes a lot more sense.

All of this ignores the fact that the logos have DNA strands in them, making it clear that the X and Y are referencing genetics first and foremost, making a Pokemon Z nonsensical.

Except that, as mentioned, there is a Z chromosome. And if chromosomes were the only reference of the titles, the Z, as you said, may not make sense without a W. However, if the titles are a play on *both* chromosomes and XYZ axes then by itself the "Z" brings the references together quite nicely. And it potentially lends itself well to a third legendary's form.

Except we can't without going to the highest level, Wuji. Granted that's what Kyurem is, but yeah.

....what?

So they couldn't go with this concept...even though they already did?

No, I was saying the name of this in between black and white "gray" version is something no one can do.

It still seems really awkward. One reference is basically incomplete, and the other takes two years to make any sense.

If you're going to reference the three axes, why not do it all at once?

...what?

Despite the fact that Kyurem exists, is gray, and represents the concept of wuji, you're somehow saying that "no person can go between black and white and make a Gray Version"?

The problem with the idea of a gray version is that the Black and White storylines don't mesh. They can't mesh. It would require making N the canon owner of one dragon and Hilbert the canon owner of the other, which would essentially be the same thing as one of the first two versions.

It worked for Emerald and Platinum because there was a third legendary that completed the story. Kyurem didn't complete Black/White's story, it continued it.
