I disliked the direction the series was starting to take. Hold items were and still are completely broken. The Special split was completely uncalled for, and nerfed several Pokemon unnecessarily. The new types introduced completely screwed up the type chart, nerfing Psychics beyond repair and making Normal types, especially Tauros, not as good. Hyper Beam's severe nerf was ridiculous, and was what made Normal types terrible in the last four generations. The introduction of entry hazards also made switching much more dangerous, making strategy overall less important.
However, if I could go back in time, I would like gen 2 much more. It is still light years better than the three generations that followed it.

Yeah, but I was change blind. I was pissed they changed the starters and stuff. I was like "who is this stupid thing taking the spot of Charizard's greatness?". Since then I've come to love Typhlosion and his line, but not until I really got into the games.
