For those who played Pokemon before Gen 2 came out

I was extremely excited, I totally spoiled everything about the game by reading and looking at pictures of a playthrough of the japanese version someone did on pojo.com back in the day.

I remember being really amazed by it when I got it, I loved that they included Kanto even if there wasn't much there.

I was excited for more games. But the excitement died after the GBA games

I was too young. I didn't care.

I don't remember when gen 2 came out, I first heard about it in the 3rd grade when my friend had Silver. It was pretty cool, but I was still playing through blue and yellow.

I was 4 when I got Red and Blue versions. I was probably 7 or 8 when I got Crystal. I wasn't old enough to have any opinions. I just knew it was Pokemon. I liked the first generation, and I liked the second generation.

I was too young to care, although I was annoyed that I wouldn't be able to name each and every pokemon anymore, and that I wouldn't know every little last detail about the game. I played Gen 2 all the time, and I'm still not convinced I did everything there was to do.

Like I do now, I was excited about new Pokemon. I heard new types? HELL YEAH! Baby Pokemon? Well, ok. Whatever, I guess. Breeding? Woah, woah, woah. I can have an army of Typhlosions? An easy army of Dragonites? SIgn me up!

Same when Gen 3 game out. Was just as excited.

Then the GBA -> DS barrier came, and Gen 4. So I skipped it. When I finally got to it, wasn't really impressed by anything, and more than anything, I wasn't really falling in love with anything they added other than a Grass/Ground type. Turtwig was legit.

Gen 5? All of the excitement came back as I had a means to play at that point.

Now, for Gen 1... I like it and everything, but I'm realistic. For a Pokemon game, sure, it's the start of the legendary series... but at the same time, while it definitely had the awesome feel, it was easily outdone and perfected in Gen 2, making it the definitive original world. I still like Gens 3 and 5 better, though.

Pretty much this, which is probably why I like Gen 4 the least. But oh well. :P

I was so excited when I saw then in the video game case at the store. That was back in the day when you didn't have the internet to tell you the exact release date a game was coming out.

I was excited as all hell when Gold and Silver were released. I enjoyed Gold so much that I wound up maxing out the counter on it, playing it in double speed on Pokemon Stadium 2, maxing all the EVs for every single evolution (I knew I did it right and all of the IVs/EVs maxed when the stats for my Pokemon exactly matched those of Pokemon that appeared in Stadium 2's Round Two mode).

Then my cart wiped because GBC batteries. Oh well.

That was probably what burned me out on EV training, as I haven't done it a single time since then. I actually horrendously suck at competitive battling now, too, because I never know when to switch or something.

Sony bought Konami and will release a DDR game for the Nintendo 3DS. In this game, you set your 3DS on the floor and stomp on it till it no longer functions.
