Nope. Even when I thought I stopped caring about Pokemon after R/S, I still bought LeafGreen the moment I saw it on a store shelf (I had no idea it existed before then). Gen I: OMG POKEMON! Gen II: OMG this is even better! And I'm smarter this time around! Gen III: I was in high school. Playing Pokemon would have felt really weird. Gen IV: In college now.........OMG POKEMON AGAIN! And onwards.
Basically in high school you're more self-conscious about your choices but once college starts rolling around you stop giving a **** what other people think (and you find out your other college/adult friends play it too).

I haven't played gen 5. Even gen 4 was a bit of a whim and I've been very inconsistent with playing Platinum.
