I started in gen 3 and have been staying up to date with it ever since (although I'm a bit behind in gen 5; I'll get White 2 soon). --- "But, you're bound to be disappointed if you keep expecting things to turn out so cheery" ~Etna, Disgaea: H/AoD
I still had my Amiga back then. When in Uni I played a few games on my room-mates PS1 but never owned a gaming console during that generation.
By first console I purchased was a Gamecube. --- A dog that is hungry........

Yeah, I skipped Gen 3 during a time in my life when trying to fit in with the "popular" clique was all the rage for self-conscious nerds like myself. --- "I see the way you look at him. I'm a man too, ya know? I go pee pee standing up!" http://i45.tinypic.com/24wc1fb.png

I skipped black and white.
Just couldn't get into it. --- "Nothing is perfect. The world turns on a tilted axis just doing the best it can, and that's what makes it so damn beautiful." --Roy Mustang

Kind of. I didn't get onto Generation 3 until quite late into the cycle, and even then I only played the games, didn't buy them for myself until after 4 was released. --- Here's A Shovel To Your Chin!

I've never played a Gen 2 game, not even the remakes. I watched people play it, and that made me want to play Ruby so bad, so I did. Love you, Breloom. --- Thank you, Skyrim, for reminding me that it's both easy and satisfying to burn a troll to death.

2, 3 and 4, but after Black I went back and played Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and Emerald.

Skipped Gen 5. The character designs turned me off so much I refused to play.
