Looking at several recent demos where you could import your progress to the final version. (Etrian Odyssey IV, Dragon's Dogma) It seems like a good choice for a demo to the game.
Maybe a demo that goes through the first gym with a level cap on all Pokemon to prevent power leveling early on. This way everyone gets a feel for the game and playing the demo has purpose as you aren't just playing a pre set up party through a pre set portion of the game. Release it in September to hype people up for the October launch. --- Know Japanese? Post your advice in the topic below! http://gamefaqs.com/boards/316-gamefaqs-world-japan/63714709

Or just up to a little after the first rival battle, so you can see some battle animations and get to meet the rival and the Prof. Or whatever. Up to the first gym is too much. --- Rocket Professor ~ R ~ Support Elesa! Real Arceus. Third Version M 2/26/13 Official ANBU of the Pokemon boards.

everybody by now should know the abc's of Pokemon already. even new players have tutorials during in game. ie, Trainer Tips and they practically program some NPCs to help you where you should go.
why release a Demo when they can hype us with new Pokemon. that alone there has more hype than the entire game itself. --- The end is nigh! *continues playing game*
