I the caterpillar route, but I'm not that big on the chrysalis stage of caterpie and weedle ... so I don't really know what to suggest.

It could have a cocoon that looks like an armored caterpillar like creature with legs that look more like they belong on a spider.

Then after that... the final form could be a long creature with multiple bug wings.

The design itself is pretty great. I'm not to keen on the art style, but that can't be helped, since you're using MS paint.

But the design itself is nice, and that's what matters. Great job! :3
