Do you feel Tyranitar's Hidden Ability should be one of the following instead?

Isn't Sand Stream the only reason people use it?

Look at it's stats.

Look at its defensive typing.

1. It is useful, but those who use it JUST for Sand Stream are usually running weather teams.
2. Sand Stream isn't even its Hidden Ability, so the point is moot. It's Hidden Ability is Unnerve, which is considered inferior to many other abilities.

For a Hidden Ability I would totally choose Solid Rock. Having extra protection from that blasted double weakness to Fighting would be oh-so helpful. Sheer Force could be fun too for lulz.

Don't kid yourself, Tyranitar would fall to UU and perhaps even lower if it didn't have Sand Stream.
It's weak to virtually every single attacking type used by the most common OU and UU pokemon and its speed sucks.
Its primary STAB has terribad accuracy and its secondary STAB gives a Justified boost to the Musketeer quartet as well as Lucario.
95 base special attack is decent but other than hitting something with a 4x weakness to Fire Blast or Ice Beam it's not doing much.

If Politoed and Ninetals are NU material without their abilities, it's not hard to see Tyranitar dropping to UU or BL2 if it didn't have Sand Stream.

Oh yes, because Politoed and Ninetails have the exact same offensive ability as Tyranitar.

They aren't weak to common priority moves though.
