Gyarados is every bit as much of a dragon as Charizard. Heck, I'd say even more so.

Gyarados is literally based on the legend of the carp that gained status as a dragon only to have it taken away for being too brutal. He is not a dragon.

How can you say Charizard is NOT a dragon?

He's as dragon-y as any other Dragon out there, I mean, he and Dragonite are actually quite similar in appearance, is Dragonite not a dragon either?

Charizard looks more like a dragon than Dragonite does, IMO >_>

And more like a dragon than Flygon or Altaria, for that matter.

But IDC if he's considered a dragon or not. w/e.

Case in point. Gyarados never lost its dragon status. If it did, then it never had it.

How the hell did this topic go off to a "Charizard is a dragon" argument topic?

Can we get back to the main point? What do you think of my type predictions, what are yours?

Not changing this sig until we get a new main series Tales game released on a Nintendo console in the US

From post #2 this thread has been about the validity of the Chinese Zodiac as a theme for the firestarters. I personally think it's a coincidence because Cyndaquil and Fennekin barely if at all fit their corresponding animals.

?!

?!??!?!

?!?!?!

I'm saying Gyarados's story stops once it starts rampaging. A carp becomes a dragon, then rampages. It's that simple. Why must it lose its dragon status - whatever that means - to be a dragon? Why must the final part of the legend be acknowledged?

It's just like Charizard being a dragon - It looks like a dragon, learns many Dragon-type moves and is used by Lance. Dragon. You were the one who brought up the legend that says pretty much outright that Gyarados is a dragon.

Seriously though, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Because it's the entire reason it's not a dragon type. GF didn't just make it water/flying because they thought it'd be funny. They made it Water/Flying to show it wasn't a dragon and that it lined up with the legend. That's why the status of dragon is important.

It's just like Charizard being a dragon - It looks like a dragon, learns many Dragon-type moves and is used by Lance

Lance also uses Aerodactyl, doesn't mean it's a dragon.

No, it says the exact opposite.

TC points out something interesting that nobody has noticed before, and people are arguing about stupid things.
