I really don't see the point of increasing the level cap at all. Pokémon have few level-up moves as it is without spacing them out to 1 every 15-20 (!) levels. Few Pokémon learn moves past level 70 and the gaps in levels between moves are pretty wide as it is. The main storyline doesn't take the player anywhere near level 100. Levels stopped becoming an indication of relative power when IVs and EVs were hinted at by NPCs and flat battles came into being. Games ought to test your skill at battling, not your ability to grind.
