X/Y Might actually bring back the good days of R/B/ and sometimes Y

The male protagonist looks like he is wearing a trucker hat. Who wears a trucker hat? Red.

Females also have familiar hats. I'm talking about Leaf of course. A little late to the party, but introduced in the R/B remakes, still a nice hat, like the female.

Oh yes gentlemen, we're going back to the Golden Age.

Actually, I heard that Leaf was originally going to be in the originals.

Is Leaf's existence even canon in the games??
And no, the trainers' hats don't mean anything IMO.

Artwork points to it

No, the only canon females were May, and Dawn. Bianca, but she is an NPC in the game so she doesn't count.

Of course the hats mean something. It is a throwback. It isn't going to slap you in the face my good man like Mother's Sunday Pancakes, but come on, the spirit Is there. FEEL IT IN YOUR VEINS!

You clearly underestimate the power of a nice hat.

And no, not in-game canon. Rumor and artwork suggest she was cut during development due to time constraints. The real reason is that she had no nice hat. Hence, why she was cut.

All above is completely true and accurate, unless it isn't.

Rosa's canon too. She and Nate do a double battle together and then she disappears off the face of PokeEarth.

I'm not easily impressed; I'm usually oblivious to whatever's in front of me.

Please commercialized animation doesn't count.

Was this the actual anime? At least a special like Chronicles?

I think it mostly depends on your head-canon whether the female or male is canon, as you can play as either character without anything being told about that. The only exception could be Red, because he appears on later games, rather than Leaf. And yes, Hilda and Rosa appear at the Multi Battle Subway as an NPC partner.
Whatever...So, who has the best hat?
