Crustle and Dwebble are crabs, not bugs.

Uhh...

What? Crabs aren't bugs.

Okay. What species are they?
Fish? Ha.

I group crabs with bugs (because I group all arthropod, etc. loosely as 'bugs'), but a lot of people group them in their own category, or something like "shellfish." My husband thinks that "shellfish" are a type of "fish" and thus actually does categorize crabs as "fish." It drives me insane when this comes up for some reason X_X

Also "bug" "fish" "crab" etc. are not species anyway.

Marine crustaceans are not a part of the informal bug family.

If we want to get real specific, "bug" only refers to a specific order of arthropods, Hemiptera. And only the Nincada line should qualify as bug Pokemon.

There's no set definition for this. That's part of why it's informal.

It's informal because there is no set definition of what a bug is in reference to arthropods but it's undeniable that marine crustaceans are not a part of that.

Bug:Oh look, there's pineco, who's just a pinecone. He's not a bug at all! Crustle and Dwebble are crabs, not bugs. If you want to get super technical, most "bug" types aren't "true bugs". Maybe bug just means "Creepy crawly/insectoid/arthropod type of pokemon"

.

Pineco is based off of bagworms, which aren't bugs either, but he is more than just a pinecone

Can't forget Surskit, although it somehow evolves into a Lepidopteran.

I think that's all.
