Are non-directly touching physical moves like earthquake affected by abilities

Like static?

Moves like explosion, earthquake etc.

It never seems like earthquake is and it kinda makes sense if its not affected

And watch..im waiting for all of you trolls to come in and say how this is a bad troll thread and im a horrible troll..lol wtf..the stupidity of humans

If the move doesn't make direct contact to the Pokemon with the hindering ability (IE, Static), then the ability doesn't trigger. For the most part, it's pretty straightforward to see which attacks make direct contact, but you can check bulbapedia for the exact details.

Since contact is a seperate mechanic, it doesn't matter whether the move is physical or special. Therefore, abilities such as Static will not be triggered by non-contact moves such as Earthquake, but can be triggered by contact moves such Grass Knot or Wring Out (both of which are special moves).
