Magneton is the most boring designed evolution.

This. AT LEAST upon evolution, Dugtrio looks a LOT more pissed than Diglett.

Charizard is the worst most boring looking starter evo ever!

So dull compared to blastoise and venusaur. And Irving next to the other fire starters.

Charmander is cute but charizard is one overhyped pile of trash you call a grand Pokemon?

Heck even stungisk looks more creative

for all the hate the later gens get for "bad designs," there really are a ton of crapppy ones in Gen 1, aren't there?

Ditto
Voltorb -> Electrode
Diglet -> Dugtrio
Seel
Magemite -> Magneton
Poliwhirl -> Poliwrath
Grimer -> Muk

Voltorb/Electrode are probably the most obvious choice... that said, I can't hate them since they were just playing the Pokemon equivalent of the stereotypical RPG role of the Mimic.

Gonna say Dugtrio because it's just three Diglett with angry eyebrows and they kinda reused the "one-to-three" thing with Magnemite/ton... though the latter works well because magnets. It was also used to a lesser extent with Koffing, to boot.

Magmar. It looks like they just mixed a million different conepts into one.

Name a few

Iguana, Booby, Karura, Salamander. Plus it has an ass on its head.

It's based on the Japanese version of a garuda.

Seel, Pidgeotto, and Psyduck.

i like how your screen name is mispelled because you completely forgot to put the R in. lucky enough for you, there's a limited chance to change your screen name right now http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/6-message-board-announcements/65822761

I could argue that many pokemon aren't 'imaginative,' yet that number is stunningly high.

Two do genuinely stand out though.

Voltorb and Electrode.
They're supposed to appear as pokeballs.

A good idea, had the pokeball not been part of Pokemon's series.
They implemented a self-reference in the first generation.

The concept that they look like pokeballs and trainers confuse them as pokeballs is also flawed, because both Electrode and Voltorb are gargantuan compared to a pokeball.
Electrode especially... being 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide. >>;

These two pokemon are not only uncreative; but terribly executed. :/
