I find it really weird that the anime showed a gen 3 pokemon before all gen 2

I wish I still had this poster from childhood because it was of the first 150 pokemon and at the bottom it was some text that said 150/387 or however many were after gen 2. I assume the first two gens were already made together but they couldn't release all the pokemon because of game boy cartridge space maybe and also because they had Johto planned out as a sequel, since it did add to the Kanto storyline. Pokemons popularity helped that out

You're imagining things.

There were 190 Pokemon planned originally, with 39 cut out of the original games.

Some of the cut Pokemon were included in Generation II, but not necessarily all of them.

IIRC, Porygon2 made a cameo in an episode before the removed one in a picture. Might be wrong however.

Ariados is a better Gen II Poison-type than Qwilfish. Prove me wrong.

Yes, you are. There was most definitely not a pre-Generation II poster that included the number of Pokemon during Generation II.
