Don't you want pokemon to be at least a little difficult?

Fake difficulty =/= skill based difficulty

Skill based difficulty is good, fake difficulty is just the sign of a lazy dev.

Inconvenience doesn't equate to difficulty.

At least not legitimate difficulty.

What I really hate though is the massive gulf between the story mode and the metagame in terms of difficulty.

It's generally considered "fake difficulty" when the challenge stems from technical issues (bad camera, bad controls, etc.), or aspects that are beyond the player's control, such as denial of information or emphasis on RNG/random chance.

Explain how an RPG is defined as frustration.

I'm not... I'm just saying that randomness is inherent to the genre. If you get rid of random chance in Pokemon, it's not really an RPG anymore.
