Sylveon is Bug-type

Yes, it could be a normal type evo as well (which actually would also make sense since most other "fairy" class pokemon are normal type). So I will grant that Normal is also a possibility.

Sylveon is a fairy type

1. Its names through each language reference fairies:
a. Sylveon -> Silvia -> Spirit of the wood -> Fairy
b. Nymph -> a deity of the forest -> Fairy
c. Feelinara -> Fee -> German for Fairy

2. XY have a biology theme. A new type fits in with the theme.

3. Sylveon looks like none of the existing types except for Normal. Other Normal types, such as Clefairy and Snubbull, represent fairies. There is also Meloetta, who is fairy-like in design.

4. Probably bug because it isn't an anthropod like pretty much every other bug type. Not pure flying because it hasn't been seen flying.

5. Might not mean much, but the Japanese site has Sylveon's type in a pink type box, different from all the other type boxes.

Considering that Sylphs are wind spirits (Sylveon), it might also be Flying.

I'm not easily impressed; I'm usually oblivious to whatever's in front of me.

One word: paws.

I give this hypothesis a 0.002% chance.

They all have paws...they evolve from Eevee.

They can change that. A Bug-type Eeveelution would have different feet. There's no need for the other Eeveelutions to not have paws.

Sylveon is much, much too mammalian to be a Bug-type.

Sylph and Sylv are not the same word...they don't even come from the same root language. Sylv is latin-derived. Sylph is actually a made up word, but probably greek derived.

1) It's Japanese name is Nymphia. Look up the definition of "nymph", not in relation to mythology as that makes no sense.

Wrong. Nymph. Love type confirmed.

No they don't. I don't know what sprites you're looking at, but most of the Eevees just have simple black eyes.

I'm looking at the official artwork.
Leafeon has the same eyes but light brown,
Espeon has the same eyes but violet.
Glaceon has the same eyes but teal.
Vaporeon has the same eyes but dark brown (almost black).
Flaeron has the same eyes but dark blue (almost black).
Jolteon has the same eyes but dark purple (almost black)
Only Umbreon's eyes are different.

Wow, there are still people who think that Sylveon's name has anything at all to do with Sylphs? I thought everybody had learned better by now.
