Evolution should require you to slowly breed for specific traits while hoping

My point is that they SHOULD be more based on natural selection than on metamorphosis.

But it's better the way things are now, and it makes sense. With most pokemon, you can find a corresponding lifecycle in nature or mythology. Such as With Torchic, Emboar, Eelektross, Gyarados, etc. etc.

See, here's a prime example of how my idea of evolution works better.

Ever heard of the myth of the carp that wanted to be a dragon? That didn't happen over thousands of years, it happened when the little guy worked hard and leaped through the waterfall to become a dragon.

The key word there is myth though.

Realistically this kind of transformation would take an incredible amount of time, and an increased oxygen supply on the planet.

And that is why the system still works. Or they could finally changing it to the more accurate "Metamorphosis," and save us the pain of these sorts of topics.

It would be better. It would make breeding have a bigger role in the series.

Breeding thousands of times to get something good? Pokémon already has IVs.

They could remove IV's in favor of this.

TC, stop trying to force this onto us. If you want realism, go outside.
Pokemon doesn't need to be more realistic, it's fine as is (well that's not true, but the issue's are not realism based).
