Why does Mewtwo have a feminine voice in the new movie trailer?

Mewtwo isn't actually male.

This.

And where did the idea of Mewtwo being male come from? It's a pretty gender-neutral Pokemon.

(This is something that people don't want to hear, but I don't care.)
In a patriarchal society like ours where male is generally the default consideration, most gender-neutral things are considered male-by-default.

Mewtwo has amnesia.

That's true. It's right there on its move list.

The Patriarchy doesn't exist. Not today anymore atleast.

Someone made a comparison video of Mewtwo's old JP voice and the new one

The difference is indeed jarring. Too jarring just to be a simple recast.

Orrr because it had a masculine voice before and it was even meant to look more masculine than Mew to appeal to male fans, looking 'cooler' and more deadly. I refer to Mew as female all the time when one might as well be male.

That's stupid. Meloetta and Virizion are definitely female in the anime, despite being genderless in the games.

From what i can recall Legendary PKMN don't have genders, so it shouldn't really bother people so much >.>

The new voice fits the new forme better than vanilla Mewtwo, I wouldn't be surprised if it spends most of the movie as Newtwo.

It bothers, because Mewtwo's voice just doesn't fit like that. And Nostalgia plays a big factor.

It wouldn't be a problem if only Newtwo had that voice, but they didn't had to mess up what people loved.
