The game would achieve a bit more balance in singles if entry hazards weren't such an important part of the singles game. The game focuses almost strictly on entry hazards setup/removal in single battles and anyone who does not conform at least one to two pokemon to that job suffers immensely.

It does need a bit of a revamping so more pokemon can be let in the door as it were.

If GameFreak cares about the singles metagame, entry hazards will be massively nerfed (even if the Smogoners claim entry hazards don't "centralize the metagame").

If they don't, and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't, they might get a slight readjustment.

They do have a use, which is to punish excessive switchers and stallers. But they're too powerful as it is.

oh geez are people still not accepting Volcarona is better?

Why don't you try to explain why it's so much better? Note here the question isn't whether it's better or not, but rather whether it's so much better that it's borderline Uber and Charizard is way down in the bottom tier.

And please mention how extremely fast it is too.

Technically smogon is right it does not centralize the metagame. It does however heavily restrict the number of pokemon that can be used, which creates for a more limited pool of pokemon to choose from.

To centralize the metagame it would mean that a person without entry hazards could never win against a person with entry hazards outside of having hazard removal. Which to my knowledge this is not a humdred percent true but it has been a while since I hit the competitive scene.

However restricting the number of limited pokemon brings up a more annoying aspect. The metagame would see more variety in which pokemon show up to deal with certain things. The pool of useable pokemon 8s still quite large, its the pool of unuseable pokemon by that one move that is far too large. Far larger then it should be.
