Does anyone else get annoyed when people refer to pokemon as if they can only be one gender? Are the furries the ones who're always doing this? It seems like something they'd do.

Yes, it is usually the furries. I think it's also because felines are associated with femininity.

I actually normally refer to it as a "he", considering it is male 85% of the time.

Usually people associate an elegant fox (or elegant anything) as female, maybe because they like getting borderline creepy with their furry friends.

For the record, I always call Ninetails and Espeon as he or it.

What do furries have to do with it? Whatever, people do it because they see particular features in Pokémon that are reminiscent of certain genders, that's why you get male Zekroms, Machokes and Groudons, and female Reshirams. It's just a quirk that people have.
