Thoughts on "new type" Fairy

#1GangstaLizard95Posted 4/21/2013 12:20:57 PM
Because of the revelation of the supposed new type Fairy according to Hiro A.K.A the same guy who leaked the entire Gen V pokedex, I thought it'll be a good idea to start a topic about it. Here are the questions.
1. Why do want it to be real?
2. Why are you against it happening?
3. Do you think there is a real point of a new type happening?
Good Luck :)

1. I don't want it to be real.
2. We don't need new types
3. No, they should just fix the old types first

1. I'd like it to be real because it's the goddamned Fairy type.
2. I would be against it because there would be a crapton of retconning of older Pokemon.
3. No, I don't really think it's really necessary to add a new type.

1. So that people understand that "dragon" "bug" and "ghost" are also non-types, and more species oriented.
2. It isn't necessary, and because of the above.
3. No, dark and steel were introduced to balance how OP psychic was in Gen 1. I'm not saying there aren't still balance issues, but I think those should be worked in with the types that exist. Also, there are so many neat Ideas for unused type combinations, and I see a new type just getting in the way of making those duel types come to fruition.

1. Why do want it to be real?

-Offers diversity to the series
-Let's face the facts, eventually they'd have to stop making moves if we never got new types
-Adds more potential for strategy
-People complain about poison type for some reason.. make fairy weak to poison?

2. Why are you against it happening?

-It would be awkward to see some pokemon lose types due to it.. like celebi..
-Liligant is the counterpart of whimsicott.. it looks weird liligant gets a second type but whimsicott doesn't.. and petilill looks more like a fairy than liligant..
-There may be too many new fairy pokemon in this generation
-Harder to remember even more type weaknesses/strengths

3. Do you think there is a real point of a new type happening?

-Yes, more strategy
-Eventually they'd run out of ideas for moves unless a new type occured

I'd like to see new types, Magneton got better by the retconning and so will the crapload of boring normals. Fairy is not my first choice, but it could work.

Retconning types would not necessarily make a Pokemon better. It could very well make a Pokemon even worse.

1. Type diversity. The game is disbalanced, and adding a new type would help, as well as add new diversity to a stagnating series.

2. I don't want 10,000 "cute" fairies shoved in my face.

3. Of course. The types are dis-balanced, and need something to fix that. Also, the game needs something new.

I'm neutral on the idea of new types (though I think "fairy" to be a poor choice), and have been mostly defending the idea since most arguments against are ridiculous... but this is kind of like saying that the English language would eventually run out of ideas for words unless new letters occurred.

1. Why do want it to be real?

Fairy is much better than the repeatedly suggested Light type.
